Vancouver to Kelowna

We left home on Jun 14.
In Hope we had a nice visit with Phyllis and two active grandsons. Sorry we missed Pat...maybe we will connect on our way home on Oct. ( Keith's school chums from Nipawin, SK)
Then we began our journey through Hwy 3 to Keremeos to see Keith's brother. Just west of Hedley, we had a flat on a brand new tire!! Smart cars do NOT come with spare tires!  Keith tried to fix the tire for long enough to get to a garage, however the sealant would not stay in the tire.

What to do now??  No worries, we will just call Smartmove Assistance (similar to BCAA). Oops....no cell service! A 10 minute walk to the local gas station and restaurant and we were able to use a payphone.  In about 50 minutes or so we had the car on a flatbed and were on our way to the closest Mercedes dealer in Kelowna. ( we forgot to take a picture of this.  Looked pretty funny this little car on a big flat bed! )

We did take a picture of the flat with lovely mountains in the background!!

We also had to stop in a spot where there was cell service and call Alpha &Terry in Kelowna to see if we could arrive a day early and stay for 2 nights and also Ken & Bubs in Keremeos to get them to cancel our room for Friday and rebook for Sunday. All went well.
I asked the tow truck driver how much this tow would have cost....$400....we paid $183 for the coverage.  Mercedes fixed the car and gave it a wash for free....FREE is much appreciated!

Kelowna

It is such a pretty drive to Kelowna.

Alpha &Terry were so good to us. Alpha met us at the Mercedes dealer and we piled our belongings into the trunk of her car before taking us to her home.

Their flower gardens are so beautiful.

We thought this looked kinda funny!

Keith liked Terry's 1927 Model A very cool pick up truck.

We really enjoyed our visit with Alpha & Terry.
