We arrived in New Brunswick on Aug 9th in the pouring rain! On our way to Fredericton we drove into Hartland to drive through the longest covered bridge in the world – 1282 ft.. The rain let up enough for picture taking. It was really cool!
My 2nd cousins Robyn & Bryan welcomed us to their home in Fredericton. It was nice to chat and catch up. I had never had conversation with Bryan before so it was interesting to get to know him a bit.
Their son Ian is a very energetic, chatty and fun 12 yr old. He loves sports and plays hockey and soccer. In the morning it was a warm, sunny day so we went to see where he was playing in a soccer tournament. Unfortunately we couldn’t stay for the game as we were on our way to St. John.
My friends Heinz & Andrea live in Rothesay just outside of St John. Heinz & I have known each other since 1982, when he came to Vancouver to work with GM for 4 months as a co-op student. We have stayed good friends and his wife Andrea has also become a good friend. It feels good to still have their friendship after all these years and living so far apart!
They have a beautiful view of the Bay of Fundy from their
home and also look out to the 18th hole of a private golf course.

Deer are frequent visitors and Heinz is kept busy chasing them away! Keith & I enjoyed seeing the deer, but do understand what a nuisance they can be.

Andrea & Heinz took us on lots of sightseeing! It was wonderful! We spent some time in downtown St. John, a really interesting area.

At one spot, we stopped to listen to really good musicians and singers. All of the band members are from the medical profession….they were really good! Andrea knew many of them as she is a physiotherapist in the hospital. A FANTASTIC Day!!

Really enjoyed our time with Andrea and Heinz and it was also really nice to meet their daughter Alex who will be leaving home in Sept to attend Queen’s University in Kingston. Their son Chris is in Ottawa at Carleton University. For the first time Heinz and Andrea will be empty nesters!!

Imagine billions of tons of water moving in and out of the Bay of Fundy twice every 25 hours. Fundy’s tides are among the highest in the world. It is best to see the “Flowerpots” in low tide and then to see them again as the tide is getting higher.
Enjoy the pictures! One needs to visit this area for a few hours.
We then made our way to Sackville for a visit with Keith’s 2nd
cousin Ina who is a spry together 93 year old. Luckily her daughter Daphna and
granddaughter, Jessica dropped by and we all went for a lovely lunch. This was the first
time that Keith had met these cousins and it was an enjoyable time.

Sackville is a nice small university town. Apparently the university provides half of the Sackville population of approx.5500. It is quite a pretty town
.

From here we will make our way to Sydney NS and take the ferry to NFLD.
